Government of Yukon welcomes Climb Yukon and the Polarettes into the new Whitehorse Gymnastics and Climbing Facility

The Government of Yukon welcomes the Climb Yukon Association and the Polarettes Gymnastics Club into the new Whitehorse Gymnastics and Climbing Facility.

The project was made possible by an investment of $29.9 million from the Government of Canada through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program and more than $2.5 million from the Government of Yukon.

The Whitehorse Gymnastics and Climbing Facility creates more recreation spaces for Yukoners, helping meet the increased demand for gymnastics and climbing amenities for Whitehorse’s growing population. Along with gymnastics and climbing, the facility will host parkour and dance and have multipurpose rooms.

We are thrilled to see the new Whitehorse Gymnastics and Climbing Facility come to life – a project that’s been a long time coming for our gymnastics and climbing communities. This modern space gives athletes and active Yukoners a place that supports both recreation and competition. This new facility is an investment in our health, our youth and our future. We are deeply grateful to the Government of Canada for helping make this vision a reality as we support strong, vibrant communities across the territory.

Minister of Community Services Minister Mostyn

This new facility represents a significant investment in the wellbeing of Yukoners. By supporting projects like the Whitehorse Gymnastics and Climbing Facility, we’re helping communities grow stronger, healthier and more connected. This space will serve generations of athletes, families and youth, and we’re proud to have partnered with the Government of Yukon to bring it to life.

Member of Parliament for Yukon Brendan Hanley

The Polarettes Board, staff and athletes have worked for 12 years to improve the quality and availability of our gymnastics and parkour facility. The governments of Yukon and Canada embraced our vision for improving sport and recreation facilities in the Yukon and took action to realize our goal. Yukoners will be very impressed with the results. The new facility will enable us to provide gymnastics and parkour programming that will build strong minds and bodies of the tens of thousands of athletes in the decades to come.

President of Polarettes Gymnastics Club Dale Kozmen

This is a historic milestone for Yukon’s climbing community. For the first time, climbers of all ages and abilities will have access to a dedicated, world-class facility right here in Whitehorse. We’re incredibly grateful to the Government of Yukon and the Government of Canada for their support in making this vision a reality. Climb Yukon is excited to grow the sport and welcome more Yukoners to discover the joy of climbing.

President of Climb Yukon Association Sara Bradley
