The Government of Yukon welcomes home Team Yukon following their participation in the 2025 Canada Summer Games, held in Newfoundland and Labrador. The team returned on August 25 after two weeks of spirited competition across 14 sports.
The Government of Yukon extends its congratulations to the 250 athletes, coaches and mission staff who represented the Yukon with dedication and sportsmanship. Their efforts showcased the strength and spirit of the Yukon’s athletic community on a national stage.
Leading Team Yukon into the closing ceremonies was wrestler Leah McLean. Leah finished fifth, pinning Nova Scotia and then Ontario in the individual competition.
All Team Yukon athletes performed their best with many athletes hitting their goals or achieving personal bests.
Our athletes and coaches brought their very best to Canada’s largest amateur multisport event and they should be proud of how they represented the territory. We have heard nothing but compliments for how brave and kind our athletes and staff were at the games. The end of these games closes an important chapter for Team Yukon. We wish every one of them warm memories of the event and the best of luck wherever their paths take them.
Team Yukon’s athletes continue to amaze me with their grit, hard work and determination. It has been a pleasure watching you all compete over the two weeks. I’d also like to extend my gratitude to the Host Society and all the volunteers who made Team Yukon’s stay in Newfoundland and Labrador a memorable one.
