Today, Minister of Highways and Public Works Nils Clarke, Deputy Chief of Teslin Tlingit Council Alex Oakley and Mayor of Teslin Gord Curran attended a community celebration of the beginning of work on the new Nisutlin Bay Bridge replacement project.
In May, the contract for the project was awarded to Graham Infrastructure LP for $160 million. This summer Graham Infrastructure LP completed important preparation work to begin building the new bridge and work will continue throughout the year.
The new Nisutlin Bay Bridge will serve as a critical transportation link along the Alaska highway.
Graham Infrastructure LP has committed to prioritizing Yukon-based businesses and citizens during their hiring process for this project.
The project is anticipated to be complete in 2026.
The Nisutlin Bay Bridge is a vital gateway for both the Yukon and Alaska. The new bridge will be safer for drivers and pedestrians and be able to handle larger loads of commercial and goods of all manner to supply both jurisdictions. The project will create many local jobs and significant economic opportunities over the coming years. Thanks to our partnership with the Teslin Tlingit Council and the Village of Teslin, we are moving forward the largest capital project in the Yukon’s history that will serve as a transportation link for the territory and Canada.

In 2019, the Government of Yukon and the Teslin Tlingit Council signed a project charter for the bridge replacement.
In May 2022, the Nisutlin Bay Bridge replacement project was awarded to Graham Infrastructure LP for $160 million.
The current Nisutlin Bay Bridge was built by the Department of National Defence and opened to the public in 1955.
