Indigenous Book Club returns for another season

Yukon Public Libraries, in partnership with the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, is pleased to announce the return of the Indigenous Book Club.

The program begins October 2, 2025, at 6:30 pm, at the Whitehorse Public Library, with visiting author Helen Knott from Prophet River First Nation, B.C. She will be reading and answering questions about her bestselling book Becoming a Matriarch, a follow-up to her award-winning, bestselling debut In My Own Moccasins. The event will be facilitated by Cheyenne Kaiser-Conant.

Print copies of Becoming a Matriarch are available for free at the Whitehorse Public Library or through the online library for anyone with a Yukon Public Libraries library card. The audio version of the book is also available. People can visit your local library or call 867-667-5239 to learn more.

Other amazing writers who will be visiting the Yukon over the next several months include Waubgeshig Rice, who will be presenting Moon of the Turning Leaves in partnership with Yukon University, and Katlia Lafferty, who will be reading from their book Firekeeper.
