Launch of the celebrations of the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

The Yukon will be marking the launch of the celebrations of 70 years on the throne of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Flag raising

The Yukon will be joining other Canadian jurisdictions in raising the Jubilee flag at their respective Legislatures. The flag will be raised at the Main Administration Building on Second Avenue on Sunday, February 6 at sunrise and will remain up for the month of February.

Virtual Exhibition

A virtual exhibition on our territory’s rich connection to the Royal Family since 1952, the year of the Queen’s Accession, will be available to view on the Commissioner of Yukon’s website starting Monday, February 7. You will also find a list of events planned in the Yukon for the Jubilee year.

Participation from Yukoners

The Office of the Commissioner of Yukon is encouraging Yukoners to take part in the Jubilee celebrations by sharing their memories of past royal tours in the territory or their encounters with royalty. Yukoners can send their pictures or a write up of their memories to the following address: commissionersoffice@yukon.ca and these will be added to a PowerPoint presentation.

Seventy years on the throne is an occasion to celebrate. The Office of the Commissioner of Yukon is happy to organize events in the territory and we hope that Yukoners will join us throughout the year to mark this milestone celebration

Commissioner of Yukon Angélique Bernard
