New incentive available for commercial timber harvesting businesses

The Government of Yukon is launching a new incentive program offering financial assistance to commercial timber harvesters. This new timber harvesting incentive offers commercial businesses $10 per cubic metre to offset expenses and current fuel costs associated with harvesting firewood.

This new incentive will support the local forest industry, increase firewood supply in the Yukon and encourage more start-up businesses in the industry.

Yukon registered harvesting businesses can apply for this incentive by filling out the application form at Yukon.ca/timber-harvesting-incentive

This new incentive program provides relief to the local forest industry, contributes to a more stable and consistent long-term firewood supply and will help ensure Yukoners have firewood for their homes this winter.

Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources John Streicker
