New online Wildfire Hub launched to strengthen public safety and provide information regarding potential fire impacts

Keeping people safe while strengthening the territory’s long-term response to wildfires is a priority for the Government of Yukon. In response to feedback received following the 2022 wildfire season, the Government of Yukon is launching a new online Wildfire Hub to make it easier to find information about the Yukon’s wildfire situation as well as potential impacts to residents and travellers.

The hub is a series of online tools addressing common questions about wildfires across the Yukon. It provides an overall picture of the fire situation, as well as details about specific issues like smoke sources, highway delays and active fires within a given area. It can be accessed from Yukon.ca/wildfires.

The Wildfire Hub also provides valuable context about how the government manages fires to maintain public safety near communities while preserving the natural role that fire plays in wilderness areas of the boreal forest.

Providing prompt and precise information about wildfires is crucial for Yukoners and visitors to make informed decisions regarding safety and seasonal plans. The Wildfire Hub is an important tool that we are offering to make this information readily available.
