One week until the temporary Whitehorse Public Library closure

Users of the Whitehorse Public Library are reminded that the library will be temporarily closed from March 25 to April 21, 2024, while the carpet is replaced. The carpet installation will make the library safer and a more inviting space for the community.

There will be no in-person services during the closure; however, online resources such as e-books, research materials, movies, TV shows, music and audiobooks will still be available.

The cafeteria in the Jim Smith Building will be open as a community space from March 18 to May 1, 2024, to help ensure that Yukoners who rely on the library will continue to have access to a safe place to meet, work, study and access community services.

Library staff can be reached by emailing yukonlibraries@yukon.ca or calling 867-667-8062.

Quick facts
  • The one-month closure includes the take-down and set-up of the physical materials, shelving, desks and computers.

  • Resources such as books and DVDs will be kept in storage, so no curbside pickup will be available during the closure.

  • People’s library cards can be used at one of the 14 other libraries Yukon Public Libraries operates.

  • Library materials can still be returned during the closure to the drop box.
