On April 5, 2022, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) provided recommendations on the use of second COVID-19 boosters for people at high-risk for severe illness due to COVID-19.
In support of these recommendations, the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health has recommended second boosters to Yukoners who are 70 years of age or older, seniors living in long-term care or other senior congregate living settings and immunocompromised Yukoners.
To be eligible for a second COVID-19 booster dose, six months must have passed since your first booster.
Appointments will be in Whitehorse on Yukon.ca/appointments by the end of this week and second boosters will begin on April 12. People living in long-term care homes will have the opportunity to get their second booster by mid-May. Second boosters will be offered to those living in rural Yukon at the next scheduled community clinic. The next clinics begin in Mayo on April 12, 2022, Haines Junction on April 14. 2022, and Dawson on April 20, 2022, with other communities to follow.
Vaccination remains our best protection against COVID-19 and it is important that those most vulnerable to severe illness have the strongest protection against the virus. This booster will ensure that their immune response to COVID-19 will remain high and that their health and safety is better protected. I thank all Yukoners for doing their part and staying up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines.

For residents in most rural communities, clinics are being planned and second boosters will be available at the next community clinic. Check Yukon.ca/appointments to make an appointment or contact your local health centre.
To ensure your vaccination credential reflects your entire vaccine history, you need to request a new credential after each dose of a vaccine.
You should wait at least 24 hours after your vaccination before requesting a proof of vaccination credential.
