Senior leadership appointment at the Yukon Workers' Safety and Compensation Board

This news release has been edited to the updated name of the Yukon Workers' Safety and Compensation Board.

Premier Ranj Pillai has appointed Catherine Jones as the Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of the Yukon Workers' Safety and Compensation Board for up to six months. This appointment is effective December 2, 2024. Ms. Jones succeeds Kurt Dieckmann, who is retiring after serving as the President and Chief Executive Officer.

Ms. Jones has extensive experience working with the Government of Yukon and with the Yukon Workers' Safety and Compensation Board. Ms. Jones holds a PhD from the University of Toronto and has a strong background in policy development, legislative reform and organizational leadership.

I am confident that Catherine Jones will bring strong leadership and expertise to this role. Her extensive experience working with the Government of Yukon and the Yukon Workers' Safety and Compensation Board has equipped her with a deep understanding of the territory's workplace health and safety system. I would also like to express my appreciation for Kurt Dieckmann's efforts to create a safer and healthier work environment and for promoting a culture of safety and wellness that benefits all Yukoners. I wish Kurt all the best in his retirement.
