Special warrant issued for infrastructure and land development spending

The Government of Yukon has issued a special warrant to meet the demand for infrastructure and land development projects across the territory this fiscal year.

The special warrant provides additional budgetary authorization for up to $20 million to maximize benefits to Yukon communities, with $15 million for infrastructure development and $5 million for land development.

The additional funds are needed for municipal and First Nations projects that fall under federal infrastructure funding programs and are progressing faster than originally expected. The special warrant allows the territory to take full advantage of federal funding opportunities and help address the development priorities of Yukon communities.

Infrastructure development and lot availability are essential to meeting the needs of Yukon’s growing population. Our government remains focused on working with our partners to improve infrastructure and ease housing pressures across the territory. Together with the Government of Canada, municipalities, First Nations and communities, we will continue to invest in infrastructure priorities to build healthy, vibrant and sustainable Yukon communities.

Minister of Finance Sandy Silver
