Statement from Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn on 2021 municipal elections

Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn has issued the following statement:

“Congratulations to the Mayors and Councillors who were elected and acclaimed to serve in office in the 2021 Yukon municipal elections.

“As the Minister of Community Services, I look forward to working with my new municipal partners to improve the programs and services that are available to Yukon residents.

“Making more land available for development, increasing housing options, tackling climate change and planning for a strong, sustainable and affordable future are priorities for Yukoners that can be best addressed by working in partnership.

“I want to thank all of the people that put their name forward to serve their communities in this year’s elections. I also want to thank those outgoing elected officials who have dedicated years of their lives to public service.

“Municipal governance is at the core of our communities and benefits from strong representation. The Yukon is home to a diversity of values and perspectives and that diversity is a strength when it comes to governing in a way that serves all residents.”
