Statement from Minister of Community Services thanking frontline staff working over the holidays

Minister of Community Services Cory Bellmore has issued the following statement:

“While many Yukoners will be gathering over the holidays for rest and reconnection with loved ones, many frontline workers, like firefighters, RCMP officers, EMS attendants, doctors, nurses and health care staff, as well as utility workers, will be showing up for work and keeping the rest of us safe and cared for.

“I would also like to acknowledge all highways and road maintenance crews who will work through the holidays to keep our important transportation corridors open to ensure the safe travel of first responders in an emergency, of drivers who transport important goods such as groceries and fuel and of Yukoners’ to their family and friends.

“The Christmas season is a perfect time to reflect on the many blessings Yukoners enjoy. The Government of Yukon acknowledges that many people charged with caring for our safety and health are a blessing 365 days of the year, but over the holidays, we are especially thankful for their dedication and service. Yukoners can enjoy the holiday season because our frontline workers don’t take one.

“On behalf of the Government of Yukon, I extend a sincere thank you to all those working throughout the holidays. I hope that the warmth of the season finds you as we welcome a new year.”
