Statement from Minister Silver on Public Service Week

Minister of the Public Service Commission Sandy Silver has issued the following statement:

“This week marks National Public Service Week, an opportunity to recognize and honour the efforts, commitment and dedication of public servants across Canada. Public servants play a vital role in nearly every aspect of our daily lives. Their work spans a broad spectrum of essential services – from delivering healthcare and maintaining transportation infrastructure like roads and bridges, to educating our youth and caring for our Elders.

“Their dedication ensures the smooth operation and wellbeing of our communities. The commitment and service they show is extraordinary, though often taken for granted. That’s why we take time during Public Service Week to recognize and celebrate their invaluable contributions.

“This year, the Yukon government is celebrating Public Service Week from June 15 to 21. The Yukon government has been organizing various events and activities to celebrate our employees such as the Public Service Week Celebration event.

“Similar events are planned in Yukon communities throughout the week for our employees, including today’s Public Service Week Celebration in Faro. During this week we will also be recognizing the recipients of the Premier’s Award of Excellence and Innovation on June 17 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Jim Smith Building in Whitehorse.

“I encourage everyone to take a moment to recognize the many ways public servants work to serve Yukoners across the territory – and to express our appreciation for their dedication, not just during this week, but throughout the year.”
