Statement from Premier Pemberton on the UK Consul General’s visit to Whitehorse

Premier Mike Pemberton has issued the following statement:

“Today, I had the honour of welcoming UK Consul General Tom Codrington back to the Yukon for his third visit.

“The Yukon and the UK share many interests and priorities and we are proud to continue building on this relationship. This visit was an invaluable opportunity to strengthen our connections and engage in constructive discussions on areas of mutual interest, including Arctic security, tourism, critical minerals and Indigenous relations.

“As global challenges become more complex, it’s increasingly important for the Yukon to grow and strengthen its relationships beyond our borders. By building meaningful partnerships with international allies like the UK, we open the door to new opportunities for collaboration, innovation and shared learning – all of which help us build a stronger, more resilient North.

“I thank the Consul General for these important conversations and look forward to continuing to deepen the strong partnership between the Yukon and the UK.”
