Statement from Premier Pillai on the 2024 Arctic Inspiration Prize winners

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

“Every year the Arctic Inspiration Prize nominees inspire us with their innovation, creativity and passion for their communities.

“I offer my heartful congratulations to all the nominees, and I am immensely proud to see four prizes awarded to finalists from the Yukon.

“To support this innovative initiative, the Government of Yukon proudly contributes $100,000 annually to the Arctic Inspiration Prize. It’s an honour to provide this funding and see firsthand the positive impacts of these projects for Yukoners and our broader northern community.

“Congratulations to Thay K’i Anint’i, the Therapeutic Farm School, Yukon Young People’s Theatre Festival and Youth Coalition 4 Food Security North for their wins. I extend my congratulations to Shifting Ice Realized and Northern Territories Youth and Communities Strategy for representing the territory among the Arctic Inspiration Prize finalists.

“Your inspiring initiatives reflect a deep commitment to addressing the unique challenges faced by northern communities, while fostering sustainability and preserving Yukon's rich culture and heritage. Your work exemplifies the transformative power of grassroots initiatives in shaping a brighter future for our communities.

“To all the nominees, I applaud your remarkable achievements and thank you for your dedication and contributions to the wellbeing of northerners.”
