Statement from Premier Pillai on Nowruz

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

“I am pleased to join with those in the Yukon who celebrate the joyous time of Nowruz, a time of renewal, hope and cherished traditions. Nowruz, steeped in over 3,000 years of history, symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and the arrival of spring brings with it a sense of rejuvenation and optimism.

“Nowruz is celebrated by many people worldwide, including those in the Kurdish, Iranian, Indian and Iranian diasporas, as well as members of the Baháʼí and Zoroastrian faiths and some Muslim communities. Nowruz is a time of feasting, artistic performances and, most importantly, gathering with family.

“I am proud to see diversity reflected in the cultural fabric of the Yukon. May this Nowruz bring abundant blessings of happiness, health and prosperity to all who celebrate and may the coming year be filled with moments of joy and fulfilment.

“Nowruz Mubarak!”
