Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:
“Tomorrow at sundown, the Jewish community in Whitehorse and Jewish people across the Yukon will join those around the world to gather with family, friends and neighbours for the Passover Seder – a ceremonial meal that involves the retelling of the story of their Exodus from Egypt.
“Passover is a powerful reminder of the enduring values of freedom, justice and resilience. It speaks to the triumph of hope over oppression and the strength that comes from standing together through adversity.
“Over the next eight days, Jewish people will honour the journey of their ancestors from slavery to liberation, while also reflecting on the perseverance of Jewish communities throughout history.
“Here in the Yukon, there is a vibrant Jewish population, represented by the Jewish Cultural Society of Yukon. Their contributions enrich our territory and I am proud to see the diversity of faiths and traditions that thrive in our communities.
“Chag Pesach Sameach!”
