Statement from Premier Pillai on the tragic events at the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival

Premier Pillai has issued the following statement:

“I am deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic events that occurred this weekend at the Lapu-Lapu Day festival in Vancouver. What should have been a joyful occasion honouring Filipino heritage ended in unimaginable loss.

“On behalf of all Yukoners, I want to extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected. We mourn alongside the Filipino-Canadian community and all who are grieving across the country.

“I have personally spoken with Premier Eby to convey our heartfelt condolences and to reaffirm that we stand shoulder to shoulder with the Vancouver community during this profoundly difficult time.

“In moments like these, we are reminded of the importance of compassion, unity and community. We stand with all those impacted by this devastating incident. Our hearts are with you.”
