Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:
“Yom HaShoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day, is a solemn time to honour the memory of the six million Jewish people who perished during the Holocaust, along with the many others who suffered under Nazi persecution.
“It is also a moment to reflect on the strength of survivors and the responsibility we all share to ensure these atrocities are never forgotten and are never repeated.
“As we mark Yom HaShoah, we stand with Jewish people in the Yukon, across Canada and around the world in remembrance and solidarity.
“We honour the victims by remembering their stories, learning from the past and standing firmly against antisemitism, discrimination and hate in all its forms.”
