Statement from Premier Pillai on Yukoner Appreciation Week

Premier and Minister of Economic Development Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

“Yukoner Appreciation Week is an annual tradition organized by the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce which features local businesses and organizations offering customers and clients discounts, prizes and fun activities. Like so many Yukoners, I always look forward to this time of year, when we come together as a community to celebrate and support all of our local businesses.

“Festivities this year include a packed weekend featuring a kickoff breakfast outside the MacBride Museum catered by Kit’s Kitchen, a Business Showcase at the Old Firehall including all sorts of Yukon businesses with catering by Smoke and Sow and a Sip ‘N Shop event to socialize and participate in a relaxing shopping experience. All of this is followed by a Saturday evening Local Eats event featuring some of downtown Whitehorse’s finest dining.

“I’m so pleased that the Government of Yukon is able to support local businesses with initiatives like government-funded paid sick leave for employees and financial support for the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce.

“I encourage Yukoners to take in the festivities and support their neighbours and their businesses this holiday season. Thank you to all participating businesses and to the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce for organizing this event. Thank you as well to the chamber for inviting me to the Kick-Off breakfast at MacBride Museum this morning – it was a great way to start the week. I am always so impressed by the spirit and excellence of our business community.

“I wish you all a fantastic Yukoner Appreciation Week!”
