Statement from Premier Sandy Silver on meeting with Nordic ambassadors

Premier Sandy Silver has issued the following statement: 

“Today Minister Ranj Pillai, Minister Nils Clarke and I met with the Nordic ambassadors to Canada, His Excellency Jon Elvedal Fredriksen of Norway; His Excellency Roy Kenneth Eriksson of Finland; His Excellency Urban Christian Ahlin of Sweden; His Excellency Hlynur Guðjónsson of Iceland; and His Excellency Hanne Fugl Eskjaer of Denmark. 

“The meeting was an opportunity to strengthen relationships, exchange views and broaden understanding between our jurisdictions. We discussed Arctic security and community resilience, climate change as well as our rich and diverse cultures, art and history.   

“It is important that the Yukon continues to work closely with our Nordic partners to address the shared challenges we face as northern communities and the issues that impact the Arctic.  

“I thank the Nordic ambassadors to Canada for visiting our territory and I look forward to continuing our shared work to strengthen the Arctic and ensure a vibrant, sustainable future for the Yukon.”
