Statement from Premier Sandy Silver on the passing of Deputy Grand Chief Kristine McLeod

Premier of Yukon Sandy Silver has issued the following statement:

“It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of Deputy Grand Chief of the Gwich’in Tribal Council Kristine McLeod.

“McLeod was recognized as a strong leader with a passion for education and the happiness of others. She focused on health, safety and building capacity within the Gwich’in Nation.

“McLeod worked tirelessly on behalf of the Gwich’in people throughout the North and she will be sorely missed across the Northwest Territories and the Yukon.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to McLeod’s friends, family and the Gwich’in Nation.”
