A statement from Premier Silver about the appointment of a new Yukon Senator

I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Pat Duncan. I was pleased to learn of her appointment as Senator for Yukon.

Ms. Duncan has an outstanding record serving Yukoners and I am confident she will continue to represent us with the utmost integrity as Senator.

Yukon representation on the Senate of Canada is important to Yukon, especially considering the Senate’s role in scrutinizing all proposed legislation from the House of Commons. Ms. Duncan’s appointment will provide the opportunity to ensure a strong voice for Yukoners and see to it that Yukon’s perspective is heard in the Upper House of Canada’s government.

I would like to again congratulate Ms. Duncan on her appointment to the Senate and I look forward to working with her.
