Statement from Premier Silver after meeting with Prime Minister Trudeau and federal Ministers to discuss shared priorities

Bilateral engagements this week between Premier Silver and federal Cabinet advanced Yukon priorities in Ottawa.

Premier Silver has issued the following statement:

“This week I met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and members of the federal Cabinet to discuss the Yukon’s top priorities for the next federal budget and areas where our governments can continue to work together.

“These engagements with the federal government focused on promoting economic growth, critical minerals, addressing the Yukon’s infrastructure needs, funding to support quality health care services, and investments in housing and renewable energy. These are issues that are important to Yukoners where we can benefit from partnership and collaboration with the federal government. We also talked about the importance of working in partnership with Indigenous governments to move the territory and the country forward.

“Together with Yukon Days, these meetings provided a valuable opportunity to advocate for Yukoners and elevate the Territory’s priorities at a national level.”
