Two moose and three caribou have been donated to Elders in four long-term care homes in the territory by local Yukon outfitters, Yukon Stone Outfitters and Mervyn’s Yukon Outfitting.
The welcomed donations will provide enough game meat and bones for an entire year and will be included as part of meal planning for Elders.
This generous donation helped the First Nations Services team reach their Traditional Foods Program goal this year.
Thank you to both Yukon Stone Outfitters and Mervyn’s Yukon Outfitting for their generous donation to Elders living in long-term care. Traditional food is an important part of First Nations culture, and this donation will directly support community connections, health and healing.

More than 900 kilograms of meat (2,000 lbs) was donated to the traditional foods program.
There are four long-term care homes in the Yukon.
The traditional foods program for long-term care homes accepts donations of wild game, bones (caribou, moose, elk or bison) and berries.
