Winter Electrical Affordability Rebate now applied to residential electrical bills

The Government of Yukon is helping Yukoners to pay electricity bills through the new Winter Electrical Affordability Rebate, which is applied automatically to residential electricity bills October through March.

The new Winter Electrical Affordability Rebate replaces the Interim Electrical Rebate, offering 3.377 cents per kilowatt hour up to $33.77 monthly from October through March.

In Budget 2025–26, funding increased to $3.85 million, up from $3.5 million in 2024-25 – the first increase since 2009, reflecting recognition of rising electricity costs during winter.

This rebate is about helping Yukoners with affordability. By increasing support for winter electricity bills, we’re making life more affordable and ensuring households get some relief from rising costs

Premier of the Yukon Mike Pemberton
