This is a joint news release between the Government of Yukon and Wounded Warriors Canada.
A new partnership between Wounded Warriors Canada and the Yukon Fire Marshal’s Office will provide innovative mental health training and support services to Yukon structural firefighters, fire chiefs and their families.
Through this partnership, Yukon Fire Service members and their families will have enhanced access to occupationally informed services that incorporate a blend of education, counselling and training approaches, fostering resilience and aiding recovery from post-traumatic injuries.
Our government recognizes the vital service of firefighters working in communities across the Yukon. Firefighters step up every day to keep our communities safe. Their mental health support must be tailored to the realities of being a first responder. We are proud to partner with Wounded Warriors Canada to support the mental health and wellbeing of Yukon firefighters and their families.
The work our firefighters do is courageous, challenging and often comes at a personal cost. This partnership reflects our deep commitment to ensuring they are not only equipped to serve their communities but are also supported in taking care of themselves. Together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient fire service.
Given the complexities of operational stress injuries, we know that no single organization can provide the 100 per cent solution when it comes to the mental health and wellness needs of its members and their families. Partnerships are vital. We are proud to announce this innovative new partnership with the Yukon Fire Marshal’s Office and the broader Yukon Fire Service and look forward to working together in the months and years to come.
We are proud to support this partnership, which will provide Yukon firefighters and their families with trauma-informed mental health services. Initiatives like this strengthen our fire service and help ensure our members have the support they need.
