Flood Hazard Mapping – Mayo

How do I participate?

You can review and provide feedback on the draft maps through the Flood Hub website. The online public engagement is open from May 25 to June 19, 2026 
 

You can also attend the open house to submit feedback in person. The open house for draft flood hazard maps will be held at the Mayo Community Hall on June 3 from 5:30 to 7 pm. The presentation starts at 6 pm and refreshments will be provided. 

What is this engagement about? 

The Government of Yukon is developing flood hazard maps for all Yukon communities that are at risk of flooding. This engagement focuses on draft maps for Mayo.  

These maps show how different flood scenarios could affect the surrounding land and infrastructure. The maps are made from:

  • detailed surveys; and
  • computer models. 
How will my input make a difference?

Your feedback will help ensure that the final flood hazard maps for Mayo are accurate and reflect:

  • local knowledge;
  • Traditional Knowledge; and
  • lived flood experiences in the area.

Once we finalize the flood hazard maps, they’ll be used by the public and all levels of government to make informed decisions regarding:

  • flood preparation and mitigation;
  • land use planning; and
  • emergency management.

Feedback gathered through the online engagement and the open house will be consolidated into a What We Heard report and posted on this page.  

We’ll release the final flood hazard maps for Mayo on the Government of Yukon Flood Hub. It’ll be available to the public in summer 2026.
