The final flood hazard maps for Old Crow will be released on the Government of Yukon’s Flood Atlas and available to the public by Summer 2025.
As committed to in Our Clean Future, the Government of Yukon is developing flood hazard maps for 14 flood-prone communities across the Yukon.
Flood hazard maps show what areas could flood in different scenarios and are developed by engineers through surveying and modelling. They are used by different levels of government, communities and individuals as a tool to help with:
flood preparedness and mitigation;
land use planning;
emergency management; and
public awareness of flood risk.
We were seeking feedback to validate the mapping results and to improve the way information is presented on the maps.
Once the draft flood hazard maps are finalized, they will be used by the public and all levels of government to make informed decisions regarding flood preparation and mitigation, land use planning and emergency management.
