Feedback gathered through the online engagement and meetings with the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation were consolidated into a What We Heard report.
As committed to in Our Clean Future, the Government of Yukon is developing flood hazard maps for 14 flood-prone communities across the Yukon.
Flood hazard maps show what areas could flood in different scenarios and are developed by engineers through surveying and modelling. They are used by different levels of government, communities and individuals as a tool to help with:
flood preparedness and mitigation;
land use planning;
emergency management; and
public awareness of flood risk.
The feedback we received helped validate the results and informed refinements to the presentation of information on the maps. This included information that validated the extent of mapped flood areas, further detail being provided on the data sources and their limitations.
