Evacuation Alert - area around Ethel Lake - June 24, 2025

June 24, 2025 - 5:00pm

The Government of Yukon has issued an evacuation alert for the area around Ethel Lake (see map). This alert is in response to the danger from the Francis Plateau wildfire (MA-019).

If you're in this area, you are not being asked to evacuate yet. An Evacuation Alert gives you time to prepare yourself and your property so that you can leave safely if an evacuation order is issued.

After receiving this Evacuation Alert, you should:

  • connect with all family members to make a plan and designate a safe meeting place;
  • put your emergency kit or grab-and-go bag in an easily accessible location;
  • gather essential items such as:
    • copies of your emergency plan, emergency contacts, identification, and important documents such as birth certificates and insurance records; and
    • prescriptions and special medications, infant formula, diapers, medical and mobility equipment, extra contact lenses or glasses.
  • arrange transport and fill your gas tank in case you need to leave;
  • arrange accommodation for your household. If an evacuation order is issued, emergency support services will be available, including accommodation if required;
  • make a plan for livestock and pets; and
  • monitor local news sources and Yukon.ca/emergencies for updated information on the status of the fire and impact on the area.

An evacuation order may be issued if the fire directly threatens people and property. If an evacuation order is issued, you should be prepared to leave within 3 hours of being notified.
