The Government of Yukon has issued an evacuation alert for the community of Beaver Creek and the Alaska Highway from kilometre markers 1868 to 1879, and all roads intersecting the highway between those markers. The alert area extends from the Beaver Creek Bridge to just north of the Beaver Creek Solid Waste Facility, including all properties along the Beaver Creek waterway east of the Alaska Highway. This alert is due to danger from the BC-004 wildfire.

If you're in this area, you are not being asked to evacuate yet. An evacuation alert gives you time to prepare yourself and your property so that you can leave safely if an evacuation order is issued.

After receiving this evacuation alert, you should:

  • connect with all family members to make a plan and designate a safe meeting place;
  • put your emergency kit or grab-and-go bag in an easily accessible location;
  • gather essential items, such as:
    • copies of your emergency plan, emergency contacts, identification and important documents such as birth certificates and insurance records; and
    • prescriptions and special medications, infant formula, diapers, medical and mobility equipment, extra contact lenses or glasses.
  • fill your gas tank and arrange transport in case you need to leave;
  • arrange accommodation for your household; if an evacuation order is issued, emergency support services will be available, including accommodation if required;
  • make a plan for livestock and pets; and
  • monitor local news sources and www.Yukon.ca/emergencies for updated information on the status of the fire and impact on the area.

An evacuation order may be issued if the fire directly threatens people and property. If an evacuation order is issued, you should be prepared to leave within 3 hours of being notified.
