In 2024, we temporarily paused the intake of applications to the Yukon Nominee Program for Whitehorse-based employers. Intake for the Yukon Nominee Program will resume in 2025 with half the allocations we received in 2024 from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Given the reduction, fewer foreign workers can be nominated for permanent residence through the Yukon Nominee Program in 2025.
Future Yukon Nominee Program candidates can request a Temporary Measure Letter of Support from us. This is a temporary initiative that allows you to apply for a one-time Yukon-specific work permit. This extends your authorization to work in the Yukon for up to 2 years. Your employer must then apply to the Yukon Nominee Program in 2025 or 2026 before your work permit expires.
We recommend you participate in this temporary measure if:
- you were living and working in the Yukon as of May 16, 2024; and
- your work permit has expired or will expire in 2025.
Process
- Complete the request form and send it to us by April 2, 2025, at 4:30 pm Yukon Standard Time.
- If we approve your request, we'll give you a Temporary Measure Letter of Support.
- Apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada by December 31, 2025, for a new work permit for the Yukon. Send them:
- the Temporary Measure Letter of Support we gave you;
- the letter of employment from your current employer; and
- your work permit application.
- Determine if you also need to apply to get your temporary resident visa extended or restored through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
- Send a copy of your new work permit to [email protected].
- Your employer must apply to the Yukon Nominee Program in 2025 or 2026.
