Yukon Nominee Program participants (approved employers and nominees) can apply for a 1-time nomination extension.
You should apply for an extension at least four weeks before the nomination or work permit expires. There is no guarantee an extension will be issued.
To be eligible, you must continue to meet all the conditions of your original nomination, including:
- Performing the duties listed in your Guaranteed Employment Offer;
- holding a valid work permit;
- working full-time and year-round; and
- working in the same position (NOC) and for the same employer.
Apply to extend your work permit
The Government of Canada issues work permits.
If you are a Yukon nominee, you may apply for a new work permit if:
- You have a valid nomination letter and support letter; or
- You submitted your permanent residence application before your nomination expired.

Apply to extend your nomination or get a work permit support letter
To request a nomination certificate extension or a support letter, the following documents are required.
The nominee must provide:
- The signed and completed extension request form.
- A written letter explaining why you need the extension.
- Copies of your 3 most recent pay stubs.
- A copy of your current valid work permit.
- Proof that you applied for permanent residence, if applicable.
The employer must provide a written letter stating:
- The employer continues to support the nomination.
- The nominee’s job title.
- The position continues to exist as a full-time position.
- The nominee continues to work in the position, and
- There have been no changes to the signed Tripartite Agreement (TPA).
