Our French classes are offered in partnership with the Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) in Whitehorse.

Registration for the winter 2020 semester will open on December 9, 2019.

  1. Schedule

    The schedule for the winter 2020 semester is now available. The winter semester runs from January to April.

  2. Course offerings

    Our courses run over 3 semesters (September to June), with intake in September, January and May. Download our French language training catalogue for more information.

     

    Winter 2020 (January to April)

    Course: Weekly classes

    • 12-week classes, 2 hours each week.
    • Optional conversation sessions (a 1.5-hour session each week for 10 weeks).

    Spring (May to June)

    Course: Let's speak French! conversation sessions

    Would you like to practise French conversation? Develop your listening and speaking abilities with this participatory class focusing on oral skills.

    • 7-week course, 1.5 hours each week.
    • Schedule details will be available in April 2020.

     

    Course: Intensive class

    Give your French communication skills a boost with this multi-day, hands-on course. With lessons taking place both inside and outside the classroom, this course provides an immersive learning experience.

    • A 4-day course.
    • Schedule details will be available in April 2020.

     

    Fall (September to December)

    Course: Weekly classes

    • 12-week classes, 2 hours each week.
    • Optional conversation sessions (a 1.5-hour session each week for 10 weeks).
    • Schedule details will be available in August 2020.

  4. Register as a member of the public

    Registration and testing

    Registration is on a 1st-come, 1st-served basis.

    1. You will have to take a placement test before registering. Email french.training@gov.yk.ca or phone 867-667-8297 to book a free over-the-phone placement test.
    2. We will send your results by email along with all the information you need to register (payment details, schedule, etc.).

     

    Course fees

    Weekly classes

    $245 plus 5% GST for 12 classes.

     

    Optional conversation sessions

    $85 plus 5% GST for 10 sessions.

  5. Register as a Government of Yukon employee

    Registration and testing

    Registration is on a 1st-come, 1st-served basis.
