Call for public input to inform Yukon type 1 diabetes strategy

The Government of Yukon, in partnership with the Yukon Type 1 Diabetes Support Network, is seeking public input on the development of a type 1 diabetes strategy for the territory.

People living with type 1 diabetes, parents of children with type 1 diabetes, educators, health professionals and anyone with an interest in services for people with type 1 diabetes are encouraged to provide their input through focus groups and interviews.

This input will help identify opportunities to enhance diagnosis and determine ways to improve services and supports.

Those interested in participating in focus groups or interviews can contact YukonT1DStrategy@gmail.com.

We want to help Yukoners with type 1 diabetes live happy and healthy lives by ensuring they have access to the support and services they need. Thank you to our community partners and everyone who is planning to participate in these focus groups to help create this important strategy that will improve the day-to-day life of Yukoners living with type 1 diabetes.

Minister of Health and Social Services Tracy-Anne McPhee

There are numerous longstanding systemic deficiencies in the way persons with type 1 diabetes are supported in the territory, and the Yukon government's commitment to the development of this strategy shows their dedication to repairing those gaps in service. We look forward to how this strategy will alleviate or eliminate the burdens that many Yukon residents with type 1 diabetes face daily.

Marney Paradis, Type 1 Diabetes Support Network
