The Government of Yukon is continuing signing bonuses and exam fee reimbursement for nurses through to March 31, 2027, retroactive to April 1, 2025. This applies to Yukon government-employed nurses and supports efforts to retain and attract qualified staff across the territory.
New nurse practitioners and registered nurses will receive a signing bonus of $7,500 and new licensed practical nurses will receive $4,500, with a required 12-month service agreement. Where the 12-month services agreement has not been fulfilled, the bonus will be recovered on a prorated basis for each month not worked. Exam fee reimbursement for necessary qualifications is available for new graduates hired into nursing positions with the Government of Yukon.
These financial incentives help ensure that the Yukon remains competitive with other jurisdictions in attracting qualified nursing professionals.
This initiative is part of the Yukon’s Health Human Resources Strategy that supports the recruitment and retention of health care professionals throughout the territory. Nurses employed by the Government of Yukon provide care in community health centres, long-term care homes and public health programs.
Nurses are critical to the success of our Yukon Health Care System. By continuing to offer signing bonuses and exam fee reimbursements, we are committed to attracting and retaining the skilled professionals needed to provide essential services across the Yukon. These incentives are a crucial part of our broader strategy to strengthen our health care system and support the dedicated individuals who serve our communities. Thank you to all the nurses who have already made the Yukon their home and continue to provide excellent care for Yukoners.
