The Government of Yukon supports active living and congratulates the Village of Haines Junction on the completion of the newly paved and multi-use Trans Canada Trail leading from the Village of Haines Junction to Pine Lake Campground.
Active transportation not only helps support healthy living but also supports a cleaner and more sustainable future for the Yukon. Improving trail infrastructure will help reduce carbon emissions and promote a more active lifestyle for those wanting to access the Pine Lake Campground from Haines Junction and vice versa.
Paving the Trans Canada Trail results in more accessibility and provides local residents and visitors – whether pedestrians, runners or cyclists – with a safer mode of travel than the highway. This will also help with vehicle congestion in the Pine Lake campground day-use area.
The Government of Yukon continues to make and support improvements to our trails for the benefit of Yukoners and visitors.
By creating active transportation infrastructure that is safe, convenient and even fun for people to use, we are encouraging Yukoners to make greener choices. Paving the trail makes the outdoor experience more accessible and enjoyable and will help reduce carbon emissions in the territory.

This project has been a few years in the making. With the help of different levels of government and Trans Canada Trail, we are excited that the trail is completed and upgrades to Pine Lake Campground are under way. This trail facility is used by everyone, promotes safety, and encourages healthy living in our community. Thank you to all the stakeholders for seeing this through to completion.
