At-home rapid testing distribution continues to be expanded in the Yukon

The Government of Yukon is working with businesses and partners to expand the availability of free COVID-19 at-home rapid test kits.

Yukoners can now pick up at-home rapid test kits at the following locations:

  • Shoppers Drug Mart at the Qwanlin Mall in Whitehorse;
  • Save-On Foods in Whitehorse;
  • Superstore in Whitehorse; and
  • The Little Green Apple in Haines Junction.

Each rapid test kit contains five at-home rapid tests and are available to all Yukon households, regardless of whether a person is symptomatic or not. Asymptomatic people picking up test kits should keep them on hand in the event they develop symptoms. The tests offer results within 15 minutes and are simple to use.

As the distribution of at-home rapid tests expands to include more businesses and partners, the Yukon government pick-up locations and hours will adjust. On March 28, 2022, the drive-thru rapid test location at Centennial Motors on the Alaska Highway will close. The Visitor Information Centre pick-up location will be open until April 29, 2022, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Yukoners are encouraged to check Yukon.ca/pick-up-tests-covid-19 to find at-home rapid test pick-up locations in their community. At-home rapid tests are only one way to help keep Yukoners safe and vaccination remains the best protection against COVID-19.

By expanding the availability of rapid tests in our communities, we are giving Yukoners another tool they can use should they develop COVID-19 symptoms. Thank you to all the businesses, organizations and partners for helping distribute these at-home rapid test kits. By continuing to work together, we only strengthen our response to the pandemic and ensure we keep each other safe. Rapid tests are just one of the ways Yukoners can stay protected against COVID-19. It is important that we continue to practice the safe six, stay home if we feel sick and get vaccinated if you have yet to do so.

Minister of Department of Health and Social Services Tracy-Anne McPhee

At-home rapid tests are an important part of our overall testing strategy to respond to COVID-19. I encourage Yukoners to pick up at-home rapid tests to have on hand if they develop COVID-19 symptoms.  Regardless of your test result, I continue to encourage Yukoners to stay home if they are feeling sick to reduce the spread of COVID-19 or other viruses.
