Inflation Relief Rebate extended for the fourth time to offset the continued impacts of cost of living and business for Yukoners

The Government of Yukon continues to work hard to make life more affordable for Yukoners and is announcing an extension of the temporary $150 Inflation Relief Rebate to reduce the impacts that inflation continues to have on Yukoners. The rebate will again be applied automatically to ATCO Electric Yukon and Yukon Energy electricity bills.

All non-government residential and commercial electricity customers will see a $50 credit on their bills starting in November 2023 and running through December 2023 and January 2024.

This rebate is in addition to the existing Interim Electrical Rebate for residential customers. The Interim Electrical Rebate reduces the amount residential customers pay on their first 1,000 kilowatt hours each month, saving Yukoners up to over $270 a year.

While electricity rates are set through a regulated process by the independent Yukon Utilities Board, the Yukon government is prioritizing making life more affordable across the territory. This extension of the Inflation Relief Rebate is the latest in a series of measures to make sure all Yukoners benefit from the territory’s historic economic growth.

Our government acknowledges the pressures Yukoners are under and the Inflation Relief Rebate will provide temporary assistance to Yukoners during this period of high inflation. The Inflation Relief Rebate is one of several measures that the Yukon Development Corporation is taking to ensure that energy bills remain affordable during our Yukon winter.

– Minister responsible for the Yukon Development Corporation John Streicker
