Yesterday, the Government of Yukon reached an important milestone in making more land available to Yukoners.
Following the release of lots in the Whistle Bend subdivision of Whitehorse earlier this spring, the Yukon government has offered 82 single-family lots to applicants through public lottery. Four multi-family lots and 33 townhouse lots were offered to successful bidders through the tender process.
Applications were accepted between March 31 and April 18, 2023. Successful applicants were contacted following the draw and bid opening.
This was the first land lottery of 2023. It is anticipated that a lottery for lots in Yukon communities will take place later this spring. A land lottery for Whistle Bend is expected later this year as land development in the subdivision is completed.

Successful applicants are contacted following the draw and bid opening. Results will be posted online by 4:30 pm (YT) on Friday, April 28, 2023.
The residential lots will be sold with a three-year building commitment and a five-year agreement for sale. The townhouse and multi-family lots will be sold with a three-year building commitment and a three-year agreement for sale.
Outstanding construction work on the lots, including minor lot grading, street and laneway paving, and final commissioning of shallow utilities, will continue this spring with a planned spring/summer completion. Development permits may be drafted by purchasers and the process for approvals through the City of Whitehorse can begin once agreements for sale are in place.
When completed in four to six years, Whistle Bend will comprise $300 million of investment and provide a full-service, sustainable neighbourhood of over 2,000 lots to accommodate the growing population.
