Nominations are open for the first Yukon Sustainability Awards

Nominations are now open for the new Yukon Sustainability Awards. This series of green business recognition awards honours Yukon businesses that have proven their commitment to the creation of a more sustainable economy and to supporting the territory’s Our Clean Future strategy. Nominees will have shown themselves to be responsible leaders in integrating sustainable practices into their business models, with a dedication to Indigenous reconciliation and collaboration.

The deadline for nominations is December 15, 2023.

These awards are delivered through a partnership between the Government of Yukon and Environmental Careers Organization (ECO Canada). This partnership solidifies the territory’s place as a global leader in recognizing businesses with a dedication to sustainability and building a greener economy. Winners will be recognized at the 2024 ECO Impact Awards in Calgary.

Awards categories include the following:

Yukon Small Business Sustainability Award:

For organizations with up to 10 full-time employees (at any given point during the award year), including owners and partners. Businesses must operate in the Yukon. For businesses outside of the Yukon, only operations and performance in territory will be considered for the award.

Yukon Medium to Large Business Sustainability Award:

For organizations with 10 or more full-time employees (at any given point during the award year), including owners and partners. Businesses must operate in the Yukon. For businesses outside of the Yukon, only operations and performance in territory will be considered for the award.

Yukon Regional Business Sustainability Award:

For organizations of any size. Businesses must operate in the Yukon and be based in locations outside of Whitehorse and its standard commuting area. Only operations and performance in Yukon areas outside of Whitehorse will be considered for the award.

The Yukon is the first province or territory in Canada to launch its own set of green business recognition awards.

The Yukon Sustainability Awards provide a new opportunity to acknowledge businesses across the territory that are at the forefront of our green economy and I encourage Yukoners to nominate those organizations. I want to thank ECO Canada for making these awards possible and for all they do to advance environmental initiatives across the country. Yukon businesses recognize the importance of implementing sustainable practices and I am proud of their continued efforts.

Premier and Minister of Economic Development Ranj Pillai
