Nominations for Council of the Federation Literacy Award due June 6

Nominations are currently open for the 2025 Council of the Federation Literacy Award. Premier Ranj Pillai encourages nominations to recognize Yukoners who are making a difference in adult literacy in their community.

This award, presented annually in each province and territory, recognizes many forms of literacy beyond the traditional definition of reading and writing. These may include cultural literacy, digital literacy, critical literacy, media literacy, health literacy and more.

Nominees can be learners, educators, volunteers, businesses and community organizations – anyone helping Yukon adults achieve their goals through literacy skill development.

People can visit Yukon.ca/nominate-literacy-award for more information and to download the nomination package. The deadline to submit nominations is June 6, 2025.

Literacy skills are critical building blocks for a dynamic and informed society. They impact our ability to navigate life, communicate with each other and achieve our goals. Gaining these skills as an adult can be a significant challenge. If you know a fellow Yukoner who is making a positive impact in the field of adult literacy, I encourage you to celebrate their contributions by nominating them for this award.
