Private seniors residence to pursue Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities Canada accreditation

Normandy Living, the first private seniors residence  in the Yukon, will pursue accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) Canada.

Accreditation by CARF Canada would enhance the quality of services at the facility  and create an opportunity to make operational and service improvements to support their clients and staff.

Normandy Living is scheduled to open to residents in November 2022 and will fill a gap in the housing market by providing supportive housing for seniors for whom long-term care is not a suitable option.

The building will offer more than 50 suites for seniors to rent, plus an additional 26 affordable housing units.

An independent seniors residence aligns with the Yukon’s Aging in Place Action Plan priorities to provide independent and assisted living options.

CARF Canada is a non-profit accreditor of health and human services that covers aging. Having CARF Canada accreditation demonstrates the service provider’s commitment to quality improvement.

The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities Canada is a leader in their field and Normandy Living’s decision to pursue accreditation is a commitment to self-assessment, quality and ongoing improvement. We are excited to see residences like these that will increase housing options for seniors and ensure that they have an affordable place to call home.

Minister of Health Tracy-Anne McPhee

I am excited to see the development of Normandy Living in the Yukon to provide seniors with more options for supported living. Their work with CARF Canada shows a commitment to operational and service quality and I look forward to seeing the first residents move in this fall.

Minister responsible for the Yukon Housing Corporation Ranj Pillai

Normandy Living is dedicated to providing the highest standard of services to its residents and our community as a whole. It is our pleasure to be working with CARF Canada to ensure nationally recognized standards are integrated into our development from the very start.
