Recoding Futures coding training course begins

The Recoding Futures coding training for Yukon First Nations youth has kicked off. Part one of the course will include four weeks of web programming and, for students who opt in, part two will cover more specific programming language for three months.

This training course is the result of a partnership between the Government of Yukon, Yukon University, Yukon First Nations Education Directorate and ComIT, with the support of Google. Participants in the program will be provided with free coding training and the opportunity to seek an entry-level technology position upon graduation from the program.

To learn more and register for a future cohort, please visit ComIT.

This coding training program will help Yukon First Nation youth develop skills that will advance their careers and fill positions in the Yukon that require unique skill sets. Thank you to ComIT, Yukon First Nations Education Directorate and Yukon University for delivering this critical training and preparing young Indigenous Yukoners for fulfilling careers in the technology sector.

Minister of Economic Development Ranj Pillai

This training is the first step towards a brighter, more empowered future for these students. We are grateful to the  Government of Yukon, ComIT, Yukon First Nations Education Directorate, and the support of Google, for making this opportunity possible.

Yukon University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lesley Brown

We are thrilled to kick off the first course of the Recoding Futures program for Yukon students. Working along with great partners such as the Government of Yukon, the Yukon First Nations Education Directorate and Yukon University we are tackling the development of local tech talent by providing accessible training that directly benefits the students in their job search process, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration in the future.
