Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:
“On behalf of the Government of Yukon, I would like to congratulate Premier Tim Houston on his success in yesterday’s provincial election in Nova Scotia.
“I look forward to continuing to work closely with Premier Houston. Together, we have already made significant strides in our health care systems, including signing a letter of intent last year to foster collaboration between our jurisdictions on Health Human Resources. By sharing best practices for the recruitment, retention and training of health care providers, we are building more resilient systems in both jurisdictions.
“Visiting Nova Scotia this summer for the Council of the Federation was an important opportunity to discuss how our jurisdictions can work together. The Yukon and Nova Scotia share many similarities as regions with small populations and numerous rural communities. I believe there’s much we can learn from each other, and through our continued partnership, I’m confident we can find solutions that benefit residents in both the Yukon and Nova Scotia.
“I would also like to extend my congratulations to Claudia Chender and the New Democratic Party of Nova Scotia as the new Official Opposition.
“I look forward to building on the strong partnership we share between our two jurisdictions.”
