Member of Parliament Brendan Hanley, Deputy Premier Jeanie McLean and Mayor Christopher Irvin celebrate infrastructure investments in Watson Lake.

Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn has issued the following statement:

“On Friday, September 29, 2023, the Government of Canada and the Government of Yukon, along with Watson Lake Mayor Christopher Irvin, announced funding to strengthen the municipal water system, sewers and roads.

“I am pleased that Deputy Premier Jeanie McLean could be in Watson Lake on my behalf to celebrate this announcement.

“I would like to thank the Government of Canada and its Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program for contributing over $12 million to this project. Canada’s continued support of infrastructure projects makes Yukon communities vibrant and healthy places to live.

“For these projects, the Government of Yukon is contributing over $613,000 to the planning and more than $3.61 million for the construction.

“Sanitary collection systems, water systems and road networks are the foundation on which a community is built. The Government of Yukon is proud to support community infrastructure projects which create strong, resilient places for people to live.”
