Statement from Minister of Health and Social Services Tracy-Anne McPhee on International Nurses Day

“Today, we honour and recognize the indispensable role of nurses in our healthcare system as they provide crucial care to all Yukoners. This year’s International Nurses Day theme is Our Nurses. Our Future., which highlights the many roles that nurses play in the health journey of patients.

“Throughout the healthcare system, nurses provide holistic care that ensures the health and wellbeing of Yukoners, whether it be in long-term care homes, immunization clinics, emergency medical services, hospitals, community health centers, or Mental Wellness and Substance Use services.

“The selfless leadership of nurses in supporting the health and wellbeing of Yukoners and their advocacy for clients, including patients, families and caregivers, is outstanding and we are all so thankful.

“The pandemic highlighted the bravery and dedication of nurses and emphasized their crucial role in our communities. Despite the challenges, our nurses continue to exceed expectations and ensure that Yukoners receive high-quality care and support.

“On this International Nurses Day, please let us show our appreciation to nurses for their life-saving work every day."
