Minister of Education Scott Kent has issued the following statement:
“I join Yukoners in congratulating the Skills Canada Yukon team for their efforts and tenacity at the Skills Canada National Competition.
“It was an honour to see the amazing group of talented Yukoners representing our territory on a national stage in Toronto.
“The Government of Yukon is proud to celebrate bronze medalists Joshua Willoughby and Kate Pearson, and silver medalist Peregrine Pearson. They competed in post-secondary heavy vehicle technology, post-secondary mechanical engineering CAD and secondary mechanical engineering CAD, respectively.
“A special additional mention to Joshua Willoughby who also brought home the RBC Best in Region Award for the Yukon.
“My sincere thanks go out to the volunteers, staff, sponsors, organizers, businesses, mentors and families who give their time and energy to support not only the competition itself, but the many days and weeks of preparation.
“To each and every competitor, our territory is stronger for your dedication to your trade or technology craft.”
