Statement from Minister Mostyn on the first-ever Yukon Chiefs and Mayors Forum

Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn has issued the following statement:

“The Government of Yukon congratulates the elected officials who gathered for the first-ever Chiefs and Mayors Forum, held October 24 at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre.

“Forums like this help build connections that are essential for a strong, resilient Yukon. Meaningful municipal and First Nations cooperation will advance the territory and support the implementation of the Yukon First Nations Final Agreements. It will also encourage a greater understanding of jurisdictions and perspectives and identify the many ways First Nations and municipal governments can collaborate for the benefit of all Yukoners.

“Drawing from my own personal involvement in Yukon Forums, I can attest that these gatherings involving political leaders, Yukon First Nations governments and the Council of Yukon First Nations have consistently proven invaluable. They serve as a vital platform for enhancing our relationships, fostering candid discussions and addressing challenges and opportunities together.

“The Government of Yukon is pleased to support this event with a financial contribution and is encouraged by this growing partnership.”
